3 bedroom and office / 3 ½ bath
Contractor – Doug Hughes
This completely redesigned residence evokes the charm and character of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. In crafting the traditional 1920s era styled home, attention was given to period correct proportion, forms, materials and details. The design incorporates classic elements of Spanish Colonial Revival - authentic two-piece clay tile roofing, smooth troweled plaster finish, and wood windows and doors. Incorporating classic 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival features and materials, this home emerges from the landscaping as though it has always been a part of the Ventura hillside.
Full-radius French doors in the living and dining room open onto the courtyard. Doors and windows are carefully arranged in order to maximize spectacular views of the Channel Islands while adding interest and beauty from the interior and exterior of the home.
The courtyard rises from the hillside landscaping, providing a welcoming, colorful and fragrant outdoor space. Sensitively designed to enhance privacy and maintain the sweeping views unique to this corner lot, the courtyard is a private space with built-in benches and plastered walls.
The second floor loggia is an extension of the second floor master suite, providing a shady private outdoor space which overlooks the courtyard and captures sunset ocean vistas. French doors in the master bathroom open onto the wrought-iron balcony.
