Interior tenant improvement creates a lively and stylized yogurt shop in a functional work environment
Customer area, accessible complying bathroom, service area and back work/storage area
The YoBiz yogurt shop was thoughtfully designed in a modern look with playful elements to attract customers of all ages. The main features are soft, curving shapes throughout the store that subtly evoke the form of frozen yogurt. The curves of the island are the first recognized shapes; yet the island has been carefully designed to maximize customer flow and ease in ordering. These curves are echoed in the floating ceiling soffits, enhancing the yogurt motif throughout the shop and adding a uniquely amusing design.
These floating ceiling silhouettes also serve as a platform for the lighting design. An array of pendants, track lights, spotlights and ropelights provide a quality dining atmosphere and highlight the lively architectural elements. The lighting design works in conjunction with the glass tiles, the featured material on the island, niches, and accent walls. The translucency, depth and vibrancy of the tiles enhance a sense of the product in a sophisticated manner to achieve a fresh look. Plasma screen menus evoke this modern, clean idea and act as an efficient way to change the menus daily.
The side wall was brought out to a slight angle to attract the customer to its merchandise display niches as well as direct the function and flow of traffic. It is also one of several features that create semi-private areas within the larger customer area. A bench seat with a lowered soffit acts in the same way; it creates its own unique and intimate space while still staying connected to the yogurt shop.
Finally, the employee work and storage area were carefully laid out to maximize efficiency and cleanliness. The yogurt machines are accessible from the front or back, but remain mostly concealed to the public. The completed design creates a yogurt shop that is not only exciting but modern and functional.
